“Truth, Fact & Spin” News Seminar

The on-going debate over so-called “fake news” has become a factor in the daily discussion of news and information whether among professionals or academics.  It is an issue for all Americans and is having an impact on trust in both government and in the media.  Also in question is what to do about it and how can both media outlets and educators tackle it.

The Lone Star Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences partnered with NTTV – North Texas Television – the student run station of the University of North Texas to produce a program on this topic.  Bringing together five leading experts in media, law, and politics, each of the four individual segments focuses on an area in this critical national debate.

Thanks to the Lone Star Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Brian Collister, Investigative Reporter , KXAN-TV; Dr. Kimi King, University of North Texas; Steve Ackermann, Vice President News, Raycom Media; Chris Berg, Director of Content, Nexstar Media; Robert Latham, media attorney Jackson Walker; and Al Tompkins, senior faculty for broadcast and on-line, Poynter Institute.
