Mandated Judging Rules

Dear Valued EMMY Member,

In 2016, the Lone Star Chapter instituted mandatory judging. The Lone Star Chapter along with other chapters in the country have grown so large, that judging the increased volume of entries is an enormous task. We are a member participation organization and we must have your participation.

We appreciate our members and want you to know that we recruit judges from top 10 markets to view and score your entries.  In return, we must do the same for other chapters.

JUDGING REQUIREMENT:  The success of the Emmy® Awards process depends on the willingness of qualified professionals to serve as judges.  Peers in other NATAS Chapters are serving this Chapter’s entrants.  This Chapter will judge other Chapter’s entries.  By entering, you agree to serve as a judge when asked.

MANDATED JUDGING UPDATE:
After a fairly successful year of Mandated Judging, we have found that many of our members have still not judged. This year the penalty fee is $35 for the 2017 entry period. This is Per Entry, Per Name. If you submit two entries, you will owe an extra $70! Why would you want to pay this fee when judging only takes 5-7 hours per year!

MANDATED JUDGING RULES:
If you enter 1 time, you must judge 1 time, if you enter 2 times, you must judge 2 times, if you enter 3 or more times, you must judge 3 or more times.

If you enter the EMMY Awards you are required to judge every 12 months;  November 1, 2016 to October 31, 2017.

If entrant does not judge within the 12 months, the penalty fee is $35 per entrant, per name.

THE SOLUTION – IT’S NOT TOO LATE!
There is still time for you to judge entries and fulfill your membership judging requirement before the 2017 Call For Entries opens on May 1, 2017. The months of April and May are your last chances to judge!  Emails with judging choices are going out this week and next.

We have an incredible chapter and we need to continue to show the rest of the country why we are the best chapter in the nation, by continuing to judge their entries and award them for their excellent work in the same way they award us.

CHECK JUDGING STATUS IN YOUR DASHBOARD
You can log in to your EMMY Express dashboard to see if you have met your requirements. Green = You have met your requirement. Yellow = You are almost there. Red = You have not met your judging requirement.
